Creation Palette YAE

三井化学株式会社が本社機能を置く、東京ミッドタウン八重洲に開設した共創空間「Creation Palette YAE®」。社内外の様々なバックグラウンドを持つ人々が接点を作り、交流することにより新しいアイデアを共に創り出す場として機能します。
MIDORISではロゴマーク、展示什器、空間サインをデザインしました。シンボルマークは、化学の「化」の文字が２つ合わさった「花」の文字をモチーフに、八重の花弁をもつ花をイメージしたデザインです。人と人、技術と技術の出会いによってイノベーションが生まれ、この場で共創の「花」が咲き誇ることを表しています。漢字の形状を生かしながら、空間デザインの特徴である「帯」のモチーフをマークに組み込み、空間とグラフィックの要素を連携させました。
シンボルである４色のグラデーションと「帯」のモチーフは、歴史やビジョン、製品の成り立ちを伝える「BIO-GRAPHY」の展示や、サイングラフィックなどに展開され、空間全体のイメージを統一しつつ、華やかさを演出しています。また、三井化学グループの多様な製品や技術の魅力を、デモンストレーションを通じて紹介する「Seeds Spec」や「Recent Challenge」の展示什器や、モニターに表示されるグラフィックアイコンは、化学式をイメージした六角形の形状をベースに作成しました。

"Creation Palette YAE®" is a co-creation space opened in Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, where the headquarters of Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. is located. It functions as a place for both the employees and their guests of various backgrounds to generate new ideas by making connections and interactions.
MIDORIS designed the logo mark, exhibition fixtures, and space signage. The symbol mark resembles a flower with double petals. It is based on the Chinese character for "flower," which is a combination of two characters for "ka" of kagaku, a Japanese word for chemistry. The symbol represents that innovation is born from encounters with people and technology interactions, and that "flowers" of co-creation are to be blooming in this place. While utilizing the shape of the Chinese characters, we incorporated the "obi" motif, a characteristic of spatial design, into the symbol mark to link spatial and graphic elements.
The symbol's four-color gradation and the "obi" motif are deployed in the "BIO-GRAPHY" exhibit, which conveys the company’s history, vision, and product development, as well as in the signage graphics, to unify the entire space while creating a sense of splendor. Moreover, the graphic icons on the monitors and the display fixtures of "Seeds Spec" and "Recent Challenge," which promote the Mitsui Chemicals Group's diverse product and technology portfolio through demonstrations, are based on the hexagonal shapes in chemistry.
